Almighty Judge and the King of Kings!
This icon is truly a theological statement in painting. The iconography is based mainly on the Book of Revelation by the Evangelist St. John. It shows Christ as he will appear to the world at the end of time.
The figure of Christ is portrayed full length on the throne. Christ is wearing a tunic, sitting on a throne and holding a book. In the background of the icon, the corners of which are elongated there are four different images: A Man, A Lion, A Calf, and An Eagle. These are the symbols of the four Evangelists, namely: Mathew, Mark, Luke, and John, who disseminated the soul-saving good news of Christ throughout the world.
Over the red square there is a blue oval which symbolizes the spiritual world; In the blue oval there are angels, i.e. the heavenly powers.
Over the blue oval, there is a red diamond, a symbol of the invisible or spiritual world.
